Rotary International (RI) and more than 34,000 clubs worldwide change their officers and Boards of Directors July 1st of every year. Sharon Long Ione Club's new President has mapped out projects for her 2013-2014 year and has been very busy adopting many new procedural changes instituted by RI over the last several months. Moving into the digital age, on a global basis, is difficult and a work in progress but most clubs here in the USA have accepted and are working to perfect.

Ione’s new Board members are: President - Sharon Long, President-elect - Jim Rooney, Past President - Larry Costick, Secretary - Chester "Skip" Schaufel, Treasurer - Rick Kreth, Sergeant of Arms - Judy Finch, Foundation - Jake Herfel, Membership - Richard Forster, Public Image - Larry Costick, New Generation - George Lambert, International/Community Service - Andrew Tanis and Club Administration - Sharon Long. While some of Board members are taking on new responsibilities others have served in the same position for as long as 15 years while working full time; a huge commitment to their club and their community.

Sharon’s first priority for her year has been to organize the Club’s records and prepare a budget. These plans had to be presented to RI prior to her taking office as well as to apply for a District Simplified Grant. As a result of this early effort Ione was one of the first three clubs in our District to receive a matching $2,000 grant to continue with Phase II of the Evalynn Bishop Hall restoration.

While small in numbers The Rotary Club of Ione has a very strong work ethic and long tradition of completing major construction projects with the help of our entire community.
